“My wife is always comparing ourselves and what we have…”

The question presented to the Sheikh in this episode is:
“I have this lovely wife and we’ve been married now for a number of years, may Allah keep us together for many more years. But I have noticed she has some characteristics I don’t really like and wanted to know how I can help her improve. I don’t want her thinking like this so much, let alone even when we have children, In sha Allah. My wife is always comparing ourselves and what we have, our car, our house, our clothes, how special the wedding dress was and so on. How much better the hotel in Dubai was… she is comparing these various things to her friends. I find her often browsing the web for designer clothes outlets and so on. I don’t want to stop her doing something she likes but just finding it a bit too materialistic. what can I do sheikh without causing problems in my marriage?”

Sheikh Muiz discusses the verse from the Nobel Qur’an: “O you who believe, save yourselves and your families from a fire, the fuel of which is human beings and stones…” (66:6)
